Bureau Veritas delivered an Approval in Principle to HB Hunte Engineering for an innovative high strength carbon manganese steel bilobe type C tank

Sep. 15 2021

Liquid CO2 (LCO2) transportation by ship for the food and drink industry currently considers tank capacity limited to approximately 3,600 cbm. In the framework of Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) chains under development, the maritime part will require significant increase of cargo capacity and innovation for the tank and cargo handling technologies.

Bureau Veritas has recently granted an Approval in Principle (AiP) to HB Hunte Engineering for an innovative high strength carbon manganese steel bilobe type C tank with a capacity of 4,000 cbm for the transportation of   LCO2 and LPG. The LCO2 transportation conditions considered are a maximum design pressure of 19 bar gauge and a minimum design temperature of -35o Celsius.
